Since its inception, Centering on Children’s mission has been to include autistic adults in our workforce. There is not one day that we are not grateful for that decision! Nor have we ever questioned the rightness of it. We strongly support all efforts to include this population in all aspects of life. Yet, autistic individuals are severely under-represented in the workforce, even though they have the skills and desire to work in the world and contribute to society. Autistic individuals do need advocates - voices and organizations to represent them and to help with that process. Because of this current Administration’s policy against any efforts at Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), these voices are now being silenced, and, as human beings, we must take a stand, to not let this happen. We need to speak out and support the efforts which celebrate our diversity and continue working towards equality and inclusion for all.
