For many of those who have worked for us, it was their first job. So, it was a matter of learning new skills and routines in an unfamiliar environment with unfamiliar people. As employers, it is our job to figure out what strategies and tools will work best for these individuals, enabling them to be productive, independent, and confident workers. And, as history can attest, once they get it they never forget it! In the spirit of seeking and attaining higher and less restrictive goals for our employees, many have moved onto other jobs where they continue to perform valuable services for other businesses in the community.
Jesse worked for us for a few years, packing and assembling materials in our shop. All the while, he was growing as an individual, learning how to work effectively with others, and gaining valuable work skills. We (his support staff, parents and us) all knew when it was time for him to move on and conquer new horizons. He is now a valued employee in a local restaurant where they cannot imagine not having him on the payroll. He is a reliable employee committed to doing his work efficiently and accurately day in and day out.
